What to do in Budapest during Winter

Budapest is a beautiful city. Full of history, culture, nightlife and fun. During the nights you discover urban, underground bars & clubs, go to Spartys (Party at the Thermal Baths) or just hang out with your Hostel mates in the common room. During the day- after you slept till two in the afternoon- you go out and discover Budapest. In our five days that we spend in Budapest we went on a few walks and saw  castles, churches, historic places, the jewish quarter, the Chain bridge etc. (Full List of what we did and saw is listed below). I think Budapest is a winter city. I dont know if it would have the same effect on me in summer. It was my first backpacker trip during winter and I can just recommend to definetely take a lot of warm, warm clothes!

Take winterboots, gloves etc. You will be thankfull. One night we had -18 degrees. I know its not really fun to go to a party in a Ski suit but... its really freezing! A great experience was to go to the thermal baths. Especially in the outside area. While your body is in hot thermal water you can still feel the cold and freezing weather. (still take care, Me and Lucia got a cold). A popular thing to do in Budapest is the caving. But take care, not just caving, you need to climb, squeeze inbetween the rocks... its not for everybody.  Also if you dont know what to do in the afternoon, you should take a walk up to the castles on  the Buda side of the city. Or just walk around in the jewish quarter. You could definetely spend a whole afternoon just walking around and discovering things in Budapest!  One night you should spend at the szimpla bar! I thing its one of the most famous ruin bars of the world. Totaly urban and alternative. Also we went to the Instant, a quit popular club in Budapest. Our Backpacking vacation was a party-cultural trip. While we did a lot of sightseeing and cultural stuff we also spend our time in one of europeans best Party Hostels and nightlife szenes.
